How to Apply Bottom Paint to an Aluminum Outdrive
You can apply outdrive paint by either spraying with an aerosol can, or brushing it on. The best performing outdrive paint is Sea Hawk Mission Bay. Below are detailed application guidelines for spraying with the Mission Bay Aerosol Spray. The same dry times and surface preparation apply if you choose to brush Mission Bay on the outdrive.
APPLICATION: Shake can vigorously for at least 1 minute after mixing ball begins to rattle. Shake can often during use. Hold can 10-12 inches from surface and spray in short even passes to control film thickness and avoid runs. When finished spraying, invert can and spray until nozzle is clear. Allow coated unit to air dry overnight before immersion.
Touch Dry 75°F (24°C)* 1 Hour Minimum
Dry To Overcoat 50°F (10°C)* 12 Hours Minimum
70°F (24°C)* 6 Hours Minimum
90°F (32°C)* 4 Hours Minimum

FOR ALUMINUM OUTBOARDS, OUTDRIVES, and HULLS
SURFACE PREPARATION for Existing Intact Painted Surfaces: Remove all loose coatings and fouling residue by either washing with high pressure water, scraping or by disc sanding. Be sure to use the proper protective equipment to prevent inhalation or ingestion of the paint dust generated. Remove sanding dust with Sea Hawk 2033. Allow to dry and apply one coat of Outboard & Outdrive Underwater Primer 500A. Allow to dry in accordance to can label and apply first of two coats of Mission Bay Spray 4005A. Apply second coat per above overcoating times. Unit may be put in service the following day.
NEW OUTDRIVES- FACTORY PAINTED: Lightly sand with 80-120 grit sandpaper, and wipe clean with Sea Hawk 2033. Allow to dry and apply one coat of Outboard & Outdrive Underwater Primer 500A. Allow to dry in accordance to can label and apply first of two coats of Mission Bay Spray 4005A. Apply second coat per above overcoating times. Unit may be put in service the following day.
NEW or EXISTING UNITS – BARE METAL: Thoroughly sand to bright metal using 80-120 grit sandpaper and wipe clean with Sea Hawk 2033. Prime with one coat of S-75 Alumi-Chrome Primer followed by two coats of Outboard & Outdrive Underwater Primer 500A. Allow to dry per can label and apply first of two coats of Mission Bay Spray 4005A per the above overcoating times.
CLEANUP: Use Sea Hawk 2033
COVERAGE: One can covers approximately 22 square feet. For application to hulls, apply 3 coats and allow proper dry times. Do NOT apply Mission Bay Spray 4005A above the true waterline. Note: You should use at least one full can on each outdrive.

John,
Yes you can use the Tuff Stuff as the primer, and you should also use the Mission Bay that comes in the quart size for the Antifoulant. It is not offered in spray.
